Halifax Street Furniture

After 10 successful years of the MADE in Edmonton Street Furniture Competition, the event was ready to be tried elsewhere. I organized and oversaw the first Halifax Street Furniture Competition in conjunction with the Dalhousie Architecture Student Association. It was held May 19th 2012, was a huge success, and is now slated to become an annual event in Halifax.

The competition format is simple: 10 teams of 2-3 people compete to build furniture out of scrap wood in 7 hours. It would not have been possible without the scrap wood donors and our volunteer carpenter, so a huge thanks to them, and to all of the participants for creating great work.
