Prairie Room

A one-room retreat for an individual, sited in a large prairie field. Beginning with the question of what exactly one would be retreating from, the project explores the idea of a rustic structure removed from modernity; a static, peaceful place of contemplation. The wood frame room is built into a large rammed earth wall, which provides something stable to sit against while staring out across the horizon; a prospect and refuge. The sparse amenities of the room are built directly into the wall.
